Research heresies. Three challenges to the ways that we think and talk about user research. My talk from UX Brighton. youtube.com/watch?v=WZL5cJ…

When a person does not understand X (in product/service), first reaction is to ask “how can we make X clearer”... Great, but how about we start with “why did we make X so complicated in the first place” and whether needs to be that way (turns out often it does not)?

'Why can't you just skill up our designers so they can do great research as well?' I know suggestions on scaling research come from a place of love (or helpfulness) but I'd never ask a Design Manager to quickly skill up my researchers in design...

Online research tools provider: “You as UI researcher...” Me: “As a what? What on earth is that???” (No reply)... Might just start calling myself that and hope that one day someone can tell me what it means 😆

Good reminder for anyone who thinks that product analytics are 'what people do' and more valuable than 'what people say' in qual research. It is really 'what people do given the current state of our product design' and not 'what they'd do if they could what they wanted'

Got reminded of a great quote tonight while listening to SPACE10 on how they work: “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re probably in the wrong room” #designleadership

Asiakaspalvelu ei ole sama asia kuin asiakaskokemus. Se voi olla kokemusta, mutta nämä kaksi eivät ole synonyymejä. #getyourfactstraight #servicedesign #palvelumuotoilu

"It is unfortunate you have left feeling this way, but the process is correct and works for most tenants." @HamptonsInt Correct process ≠ a good experience (not always). Works for most = assumption if I ever saw one. Everything after the "but" is unnecessary.
