Anti-racism and anti-sexism involve unlearning in The Church of England & other churches. As St Paul says, we must not conform to the patterns of this world (which include racism & patriarchy) but be transformed by the renewing of our minds, by the grace of God - if we will allow that

Are egalitarian churches with male and female leadership safer than complementarian churches that espouse male headship? Is that a question we are allowed to ask? #safeguarding The Church of England

#Complementarianism is a human construct generated to read the Bible so it consistently speaks of the creation-given subordination of women & the headship of men, in a way acceptable to the modern ear. Churches in The Church of England that teach this need to be transparent abt this.

The world is not flat; it is round. Women are not the subordinate sex; they make excellent leaders. It’s time to stop teaching in #complementarian/headship churches in The Church of England that God wants women to submit to men. It’s unjust, untrue to the Gospel and frankly unsafe.
