The Mi Amigo airplane crashed into the park on 22nd February 1944, killing the 10 American soldiers inside, after it was damaged in a skirmish with the Nazi airforce. Tony, then 8, claimed the pilot sacrificed his own life, after swerving to avoid him and his friends.
