My article on how attitudes of indifference to cruelty are cultivated in the management and responses to global migration is out in Global Studies Quarterly. I analyse Canada's Temporary Foreign Worker Program and use a George Saunders story to show how these attitudes are depoliticized.

Very pleased to share that our article “From subject to project: crisis and the transformation of subjectivity in the armed forces“ is out with Globalizations as part of the SI “Political Subjectivity in Times of Crisis” ed. by Marta Bashovski and Norma Rossi. tandfonline.com/eprint/AJYH77J…

I don’t know that I’ve ever loved the process of thinking and writing as much as I did here, working with Matt Davies at Newcastle. Collaboration and co-thinking with friends is simply the best. 1/n tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

This paper is part of a special issue on Political Subjectivity in Times of Crisis, edited by Marta Bashovski and Norma Rossi. Join me in keeping an eye out for the companion pieces; I can’t wait to read the special issue as a collaborative whole. 5/n

Just to second what Delacey Tedesco says, writing this piece was an absolute joy and labour of love. Thanks also to Marta Bashovski and Norma Rossi for being such thoughtful and interesting editors. Also note, the article is open access.

Delacey Tedesco and my article on “Cities as Aesthetic Subjects” is now available online and open access from Globalizations tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Our article is part of a special issue on Political Subjectivity in Times of Crisis edited by Norma Rossi and Marta Bashovski. Their feedback and guidance were crucial for the development of our ideas and arguments, it was a joy to work with them!

Norma and Malte Riemann’s contribution to the special issue is also available on the Globalizations website tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…

Warm thanks to Joao P. Nogueira and Renata Summa for inviting me to present a seminar on Aesthetic Cities, and to all the seminar participants for an incredible discussion. Anyone interested in International Political Sociology should give IPS Brazil Network a follow.

The seminar was a chance to discuss the notion of Aesthetic Cities, that I developed with Delacey Tedesco in our article in Globalizations: doi.org/10.1080/147477… as well as in other work I have been doing on the problem of the urban international.
