Today Mr Boult and the Junior Road Safety Ambassadors surveyed the end of school day checking for dangers to learners and parents. Over the next few weeks, they will feed back their findings to the whole school and begin the process of making home times safer for everyone.

Yesterday, Y3 took part in the Building Bridges project at Colne Municipal Hall. The session also included Saint Michael and All Angels. It was a great opportunity for our learners to meet new friends and take part in some fun activities.

We were delighted to welcome the Fire Service into school today! They supported our EYFS learners with their topic on People Who Help Us and also spoke to Year 2 and Year 6 about fire and road safety.

Today our Head Boy and Head Girl represented Marsden at the Service of Remembrance in Nelson. They laid a beautiful wreath of poppies made by EYFS and met the Mayor.

This afternoon Year 5 have been in the Wildlife Garden and spent time clearing leaves and preparing some of the beds for planting in the coming weeks.

It was lovely to welcome Curry on the Street into school this week. They collected Year 2’s harvest donations and will use them to support people in need throughout the community.

A huge thank you to all the parents who came to our Year 6 learning celebration. Our learners loved sharing what they have been studying this year.

Our Gardening Club have been busy planting bulbs this afternoon. Thank you to Holden Clough Nursery for donating the growing kits.

This week, our Year 2 learners explored a variety of pizzas as part of their Design Technology topic. They tried different flavours and ingredients, giving each a score out of 5. These taste tests will help them design their own healthy pizzas in the coming weeks.

Yesterday, we welcomed Burnley Football in the Community into school. They worked with our Year 2 learners on a STEM project to support their DT learning linked to vehicles. It was a fun, practical session and a great time was had by all.

Some of our fantastic maths learning has been put on display around school over the last few weeks. The focus has been place value and learners are encouraged to interact with the displays to embed key concepts and knowledge.

Today, Junior Road Safety Ambassadors from Marsden and Lomeshaye led assemblies in both schools. They focused on informing learners about the dangers at the start and end of the school day as well as how to stay safe when out with friends and family. It was a great collaboration.

Year 2 visited Queen Street Mill today as part of their History learning. They loved discovering what life was like during the Industrial Revolution!

Today, learners from Year 2 visited the Wildlife Garden and worked with Paddy to build paths, add to the compost pile and clear areas, ready for more planting.
