This is a beautiful and thorough study with brain tissue from rhesus monkeys. Suggests Angelman syndrome could initiate during mid-fetal development, when a long non-coding RNA (UBE3A-ATS) turns on and silences the paternal copy of UBE3A in postmitotic neurons.
