❌🐺 The European Parliament has caved to political pressure, slashing #wolf protections & greenlighting hunting, against all scientific advice. 👎 This rollback ignores the facts & risks undoing decades of progress. Europe’s #wolves + nature deserve better. bit.ly/3GJoawG

Apparently it is indeed personal for Ursula von der Leyen Otherwise the president of the EC would never tweet about changing the protection status of one single species. #wolf

🐺 Wolves betrayed. The European Parliament just voted to weaken #wolf protections — ignoring science and public trust. This decision opens the door to renewed wolf hunting across Europe. A sad day for #biodiversity. #ProtectWolves #EUwolves #HandOffNature

We watch with concern the EP's decision to lower the wolf's protection in the EU. While still strictly protected in Poland, the lack of opposition at EU level raises valid concerns about the species' future. #wolf #biodiversity #EU #nature facebook.com/WWFpl/photos/-…

"The wolf offers us a golden opportunity to restore contact with nature. Because the Netherlands is not too small for the wolf, but the Dutch are. And by shooting wolves, we achieve exactly what we do not want: we only become more fearful"

Research tells us: removing wolves disrupts their pack structure, leading to more problems—not fewer. When adults are killed, younger wolves scatter, increasing the chances of livestock conflicts. The solution isn’t lethal control. It’s coexistence—and science supports that too.

Why venerate cultural landscape in Britain when there is an ecosystem closest to a natural condition? Primary forests world-wide are recognised to have high ecological integrity & so does our undisturbed ancient woodland. It is not ours to carelessly lose self-willed-land.org.uk/articles/cock_…

Another great dissection of fashionable conservation blah from Mark. This time temperate "rainforests" when perfectly great forests are overlooked or managed for no reason other than getting £ from govt. Anyway, read on & get off the tourist trail next time you're in Whitby...

"August 13th, International Wolf Day. Legal protection in Spain is essential to ensure its conservation. As long as the death of this jewel of our fauna continues to be allowed, there's little to celebrate"

The current fire at Langdale North Yorkshire is very worrying and i hope the Fire brigade crews stay safe. People are told to keep windows closed, this is the normal for locals from Oct to April every year. Todays fire cant be helped but from Oct to April it can Ban burning now

Star ascidian squirts at a low tide Runswick Bay on Tuesday. Squirts take effort to find as they grow on rock in shaded locations exposed only for a short period at the lowest tides. Their finding does not involve intrusive action. Do not turn over rock slabs - not for us to see
