Today is 'El Dia del Nino' or 'Day of the Child' and to celebrate I joined others to read a book to a class of schoolchildren. I read 'The Marvelous Adventures of Countyland' to Mrs. Persaud's class at the Olmsted School. Thanks HispanicHeritageWNY for bringing this Mexican tradition to WNY.

Tom Gleed was a long-time advocate for the democratic party and many social causes. He unexpectedly passed this weekend after a brief illness. He will be missed by all who knew him and I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
