Today, July 1st, 2024, was a fantastic chase day, with a supercell outbreak in the southern Friuli region, NE Italy. The structure was epic!

There was a surprise storm last night in the overall drought season in SW Slovenia. I got a couple of nice lightning bolts from the event and much-needed rain. Povir, Slovenia, on July 28th, 2024.

Experienced a full-circle double rainbow during afternoon showers yesterday. A rare sight to see, actually. This is a panoramic view created from multiple photos, photographed with the drone. Location & date: Zirje, Slovenia - April 24th, 2025

My precious :) And yes I want to see these again. The largest hailstones I’ve ever seen were these 13cm (5”) beauties taken in Predgrad and Stari Trg ob Kolpi, Slovenia on June 11th, 2019.

Post-frontal convective activity over the north Adriatic on Saturday night, August 2nd, 2025. The storm cluster produced an incredible lightning barrage near the container ship in front of the Luka Koper port, Slovenia.

Yesterday, August 29th, 2025, we had an intense but pleasant chase of this long-lived supercell across the Veneto region, north of Italy. Once we blasted through the RFD, nature paid us with this majestic view!

Nighttime chases are a special challenge when you balance lightning activity, storm structure, and illumination to get perfectly sharp clouds despite long exposure. This beastly supercell was embedded in the intense line moving towards the Gulf of Trieste, Italy on Sept 2nd, 2025

This is the final activity for the stormy event on September 2nd, 2025. A decaying cluster of storms over northern Istra, Slovenia, produced a combo of CG lightning and an anvil crawler. There were still explosive updrafts on the right, illuminated by the flashes.

An absolute monster supercell with frequent lightning grazed across the Friuli region, Italy, into the Gulf of Trieste today, Sept 16th, 2025. A wet microburst blasted Monfacone and Duino with lots of hail and intense downpours.

The first view of the supercell last night, at the time she went absolutely crazy after entering the gulf. The lightning activity was high, with a beaver tail building into a rapidly developing wall cloud. The spin was insane! Sept 16th, 2025.
