Today @EveSeuntjens gave a fascinating talk on her pioneering work setting up the Octopus vulgaris as a model to study brain development. After meetings and facility tours, Prof. Seuntjens joined our annual Halloween Cake Competition! Thank you for spending the day with us.🙏Universitetet i Bergen

We hope our work attracts the eye of evodevo, neuro and devbio people alike! We are grateful to our funding The Company of Biologists European Research Council (ERC) , and the continuous support from our home institution QM_SBBS Hope you like our sand worms ⌛️🪱 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Very happy to see this finally out! We, Adrian Ranga lab, wondered how neural tube organoids achieve floor plate (FP) patterns in the absence of established morphogen gradients as is the case in-vivo? We found “position” to bring order to chaos. DOI: doi.org/10.1016/j.celr…

Congrats Gregor Diensthuber 😊💻🧬

Did neurons evolve twice? Our work on the ctenophore syncytial nerve net and the beautiful work from Darrin Schultz, @SebasNajle, Arnau Sebé Pedrós & many others covered in Scientific American Scientific American. With comments from Arendt Lab, @TelfordLab & Leslie S. Babonis 🤩. scientificamerican.com/article/did-ne…

We are hiring and have a 4-year PhD position available at the Michael Sars Centre at the University of Bergen. Topic: Functional characterization of ctenophore neurons. Reposts are highly appreciated! Michael Sars Centre Universitetet i Bergen European Research Council (ERC) #ctenophores jobbnorge.no/en/available-j…

Check out our updated single cell atlas of Nematostella, by alison cole: doi.org/10.1186/s12983… It was completely remapped on the new chromosome scale genome and gene annotation (PMID: 38092765), but also contains new data and analyses. Great work, Alison!

Very happy to see our methods paper on FISH in Nematostella out (including all our little tricks and advices) Thanks to Fabian, James Gahan and Henriette for such a lovely collaborative effort on writing this up!

Very excited to be part of the #CephNeuro2024 at the inspiring campus of Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL)! 4 days to learn about and present our state of the art research on alien brains 🐙
