I worked with Mayur as Chair RCGP in better times when public satisfaction with the NHS was very high. How we yearn for those results today. It has been done before and can be done again.

Another glimpse of ‘a’ future from China today. Talking with Ping An Doctor, the healthcare organisation based in Beijing, their ‘AI Doctor’ deals with 130,000 consultations per day with ~ 35% of patients not interacting directly with a human. Dystopia or destiny? A bit of both.

Just watched BBC Newsnight #NHS 75 . I preferred the #NHS 60 show because we had the highest public, patient and staff satisfaction in the history of the #NHS . Developed over a decade through more staff, better infrastructure, lower waiting times and better economy. #Wasted15years .

Great to be speaking at the Ontario Medical Association Ontario Medical Association weekend retreat with Dr Jane Philpott Jane Philpott former federal Minister of Health, and President of the Treasury Board, in Canada. The course is run by University of Toronto, designed to make OMA medics better leaders.

It’s wonderful to be back in Vancouver in the spring, especially to help Fraser Health, and partners, build a new type of medical school which has primary & community care & population health at the core of its mission. This investment is the first new medical school in 55 years.

Globally, healthcare systems account for 4.4% of CO2 emissions. If the global health sector were a country, it would be the fifth-largest greenhouse gas emitter on the planet. Caribbean nations are particularly vulnerable to rising sea-levels & hurricanes. Health can do better.

Great to be back in #Bahamas to help support the expansion of universal healthcare. The National Health Insurance Authority, established in 2017, started a journey to deliver accessible, affordable, quality healthcare for the benefit of all Bahamians. Results are pleasing 👇

We’ve been waiting for an NHS Workforce Plan for at least 4 years, if not a decade. The delays are actively contributing to staffing shortages, now estimated to be 154,000 with, staggeringly, a further projected deficit of 571,000 by 2036. That’s existential threat territory.
