Really wanted to share Passacaglia by Caroline Shaw, but my phone or my skill level is defeating me, but please check out this wonderful composition if you have time. It has power, emotion and restraint, all in the same breath. A truly wonderful piece of choral writing.

I find Martinu difficult to place. He doesn't fit neatly into my musically ordered brain & I don't know where I "put" his writing, for want of a better word. It's not a dislike of his sound world, more my problem of the need to place pegs into slots, so to speak.

On 9 September 1878, Nikolai Rubinstein conducted a first concert of Russian music at the Paris Universal Exposition. He was also soloist in a performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto (under a French conductor).

"The Cello", painted by Italian artist and soldier #GerolamoInduno in 1869 🎨. The painting captures a poignant moment of human experience, with the musician's expression and posture conveying a deep, perhaps sorrowful, connection to the cello's music. #cellist #painter

I've never really engaged with early music, not through lack of interest or desire, but due to having a busy schedule. I'd like to try and change that, so if anyone would care to suggest favourite recordings or artists, I'd be grateful. Thankyou.
