Another first for us, turned out combining season wasn’t done for us. Tidying up the maize we couldn’t clamp in near perfect conditions (more luck than judgement). Rocket fuel cattle feed.

Bringing out the big guns now finally. Crimped maize is in the finishing ration. Not affording any set backs on the finishing cattle now more than ever and hoping to shave a day or two off the finishing period.

Making the most of the dry spell and top dressing the winter cereal crops, which then goes back to feed the animals that feed it.

Just the job for a bank holiday. Sorting fats out ready for the morning. Keeping the wheels turning before picking grass tomorrow.

That’s the load sorted. Now I just have to come to terms with the kickin we are going to take on them. The joys of farming eh

First day out on manouvers in the barley. It could be worse I guess. Thank god it’s worth a bit to keep the job ticking #harvest25 #russells #newholland

Pulled a few flashier sorts to head to Selby market this morning through the live ring. Keep supporting these places where you can. #sellliveandthrive

A morning in the market, an afternoon in the tractor. Both probably equally as unprofitable but atleast I enjoyed my morning.

It’s definitely an inside kinda day. And makes a welcome change to be dosing up the fresh stores instead of being in a tractor seat. #britishbeef

Nipping the last of the wheat off. Just rye and spring barley to go. Not a harvest to remember eh. Light lands been a disaster. But the rest I’d class as OK considering, nothing more.

Giving the Wakely a work out today putting Rye through. I was sceptical that it would make a job but I have to say I’ve not seen a grain yet that hasn’t got bruised or cracked. I’ll be keeping an eye out in the muck just to make extra sure the jobs got done right.

Not a bad sort of day in the greatest scheme of things. Batching a few stores up(something for everyone) before setting in to the maize. It’ll be good to see the clamp full. I’d given up on the hope of grass months ago. Maize day 2 pending …
