🚨PSA: As physicians we have the power, privilege, and responsibility for dismantling structural racism. So, recognize your patient’s race. But more importantly, recognize racism. Recognize that your patient lives in a society that assigns privilege based on their skin color.

I got consulted on a kid who was COVID+ and on ECMO. That's when tubes take blood from your body to an artificial lung outside your body for oxygen. And my job is to keep that blood from clotting as it rides through this web of plastic. Mask up people. This ain’t over.
