Quite spontaneously, here are some of my favourite biscuit (cookie) sets from the past three years. This set feels to me like summertime. It came together in a whirlwind after a rewatch of 'Emma' (2020). Each biscuit is inspired by a costume featured in the film.

This #IntlCatDay, enjoy some of our favourite felines from our manuscripts. #Cats are most often depicted with mice, but a variety of characteristics are shown here that capture the wider range of their personality.

Request for funds by the Exchequer Office doorkeeper in 1715 to keep a cat, to protect the records: “greatly damnified, eaten and destroyed by rates and myce”. There’s no record of whether his employers were able to scratch together the cash or whether the kitty was empty.

Today I saw Rembrandt’s 1635-37 drawings of women teaching babies to walk at British Museum. They’re some of my favourite depictions of pudding caps! You can really feel the tenderness and care. I also fell in love with Adriaen van Ostade’s 1672 depiction of a woman sewing
