Unless I missed something, there isn't a single Latino/Hispanic media leader/journalist in this New York Magazine list. Really?? You can't possibly discuss the future of journalism without Latinos, the second largest racial or ethnic group in the US. nymag.com/intelligencer/…

My friend Mariel Garza just resigned as editorials editor of Los Angeles Times after the newspaper’s owner blocked the editorial board’s plan to endorse Kamala Harris for president. cjr.org/business_of_ne…

Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Robert Greene is smart, deeply knowledgeable about L.A. County, and a decent colleague. His departure is a huge loss.

It could not be any clearer today that the interests of publishers and the interests of journalists are not the same thing. Standing with all guilds and their defense of true journalistic independence today.

As of yesterday, I have decided to resign from my role as a columnist for The Washington Post — a newspaper that I love. In a moment like this, everyone needs to make their own decisions. This is the reasonfor mine. 🧵

My thoughts on the last minute non-endorsement endorsement that prompted me to quit the Los Angeles Times after 18 years: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

I haven't given many interviews (hey, I'm a writer, not a talking head), but I did appreciate having the opportunity to share more about why I resigned from L.A. Times Opinion bostonglobe.com/2024/10/27/opi…

Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him

Powerful words from my former Los Angeles Times colleague Tony Barboza. "Now is the time to stand resolutely against Trump's racism and xenophobia." latimes.com/opinion/story/…

"The editorial boards of both papers have been staunchly anti-Trump for years, and both had planned to endorse Harris before the papers’ billionaire owners stopped them from doing so. And neither owner criticized Harris or praised Trump..." latimes.com/politics/story…

An excellent explainer from my fantastic former colleague @kerryc_latimes : I am on the L.A. Times Editorial Board. Here’s why our endorsements matter

.@MarielGarza, the Editorial Editor who quit over the non-endorsement in Kamala Harris v @realDonald Trump, just wrote us all. She's keeping her subscription. "This is not just the best damn news organization in L.A., California and the West — it’s one of the best in the world."

That would be unfortunate. I don't think "resistance" is a winning strategy this time, if it ever was. Better to focus on what he can control rather than alienate voters he might need in the future.
