One of the biggest lessons I have learned since I became a PI is that the best scientists are the ones who accept others' paths to happiness and success. I no longer value my colleagues based on numbers, but on how they got where they are and how generous they are with others.

Really happy to share that our article "Translocator protein is a marker of activated microglia in rodent models but not human neurodegenerative diseases" was chosen by the editors at Nature Communications for their Editors' Highlights "From brain to behaviour": nature.com/ncomms/editors…

Not to be a crankypuss, but awarding a Nobel for work that suffered from not being taken seriously for decades only *after* it proved to be of incredible value is not a triumph of prizemaking - it's a complete condemnation of it and the entire culture of modern academic science.

Last week we had our Sci-Fi start-up pitching challenge!! 3 candidate start-up founders pitched ideas for flying cargo-dragons, music-adjustable plants and disease-detector portals🐉🌱🩻 The panel questions were brutal, but no scientists were hurt in the process! Imperial Department of Brain Sciences
