Chronic stress hinders the cellular housekeeping process autophagy. Boosting it has the potential to restore normal neuronal activity and treat depression go.nature.com/3Rbdglu

Chronic stress literally destroys the brain by interfering with protein and organelle quality control. Interestingly, acute stress does the opposite. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Agree 100%. The field has become a mess, and so quickly. The widespread opportunistic behaviour in the longevity space makes us all look like charlatans.

4th Chromosomal Instability as a Driver of Human Disease Conference. 7-10 October 2025, Malta. Stunning location, fantastic speaker lineup - and I'll be presenting the data behind our successful path to developing sleep mimetic drugs. Don't miss it!

It's more about status than health. Healthy aging is a new luxury item that has to be expensive. Biggest issue: what most of these clinics offer is either trivial or very poorly tested.

🔥🔥🔥OUR NEW PREPRINT: Slowing and reversing aging? Nature does it, here we show how! Age deceleration and reversal gene patterns in dauer diapause. Huge congrats to Kristy Totska, João Barata, Walter Sandt and David Meyer biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

What is the best time of day for exercise? Apparently it matters: strenuous evening exercise likely disrupts sleep due to heightened sympathetic arousal. Conversely (not this study), moderate evening workouts lower blood glucose levels for healthier sleep. nature.com/articles/s4146…

I would say: 1st find money to create jobs for the talent that is already here, and chose Europe from the start. The academic job market in the EU is already a massacre. Please don't make it worse.

As someone doing intervention screens that take us almost anywhere in terms of a mechanism, I can say firsthand that publishing high-impact work outside "your" research field is mission impossible due to enormous peer review bias. Still, we forge ahead. nature.com/articles/s4158…

Happy to share our new paper! 🎉 We show that #cGAS–#STING inflammation drives premature #aging in response to telomere shortening in #zebrafish. 🧬 Telomere-driven aging occurs in 2 stages: 1️⃣ Senescence, inflammaging, cancer 2️⃣ Genome instability, death tinyurl.com/34rhn67z

Loading up on daily supplements might harm your liver instead of boosting lifespan or healthspan. That’s why developing non-drug interventions for healthy aging (one of our research focuses) is so vital. nbcnews.com/health/health-…

High dietary fructose directly affects neonatal brain development and contributes to anxiety behaviours in later life by suppressing microglial phagocytosis. Fructose is a natural sugar from fruit and honey but also used as a sweetener in processed foods. nature.com/articles/s4158…

First, Google DeepMind put structural biologists out of work, and now it's coming for the jobs of bioinformaticians doing genome analysis: a preprint reveals AlphaGenome, the little brother of AlphaFold. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Proud of Prerana Chaudhari for winning the Best Talk Award for presenting this study at the annual meeting of the German Association for Aging Research (DGfA) in Ulm. Grateful for the recognition of our science by the community and hoping to share additional news on this soon.

A strong start toward healthy aging: study shows that early-life exercise is sufficient to extend healthspan, even after prolonged detraining (in mice). nature.com/articles/s4146…

Unpopular opinion: Before we attempt to create immortal humans, we should first figure out how to colonize other planets - because Earth can't accommodate everyone forever with its limited resources. Until then, let’s focus on delivering healthy longevity.
