I fell in a ditch. Out walking the dog this morning and I fell in a ditch. Not hurt, just muddy. I don’t think I’ve ever fallen in a ditch before. All pretty thrilling really. Got home and said “Hi Val, we’re back. I fell in a ditch!!”… Quite proud of myself to be honest!

Well, I for one will NOT be watching any of the World Cup from Qatar. Not for any political or human rights reasons, but just coz it's football which is a mindless ballgame in which I have no interest.

I read a lot of books: travelogues, diaries, histories etc. Petroc Trelawny’s new book, which happily ticks all those boxes, arrived yesterday and I’m greedily gobbling my way through it at a considerable rate of knots. Absolutely splendid stuff. Can’t recommend highly enough. 👍
