This letter on Oregon voter's pamphlet makes good points & I would add, all 5 candidates for Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Position 38 were not allowed to submit statements & the pamphlet inaccurately said we chose not to, which was harmful to oregonlive.com/opinion/2024/1…

We are deeply disappointed that Keith Wilson for Mayor, without consulting any expertise or PSR responders, has already proposed the end of PSR as we know it by turning them into to an extension of law enforcement. This is unacceptable And we won’t let it happen. More to come. #SavePSR

Shane Dixon Kavanaugh Friends of Portland Street Response That's a bad idea for the same reason it's a bad idea to have fire departments use their fire hoses as weapons to attack crowds on behalf of police: it makes what should be a welcome rescue force a source of fear and target for violence. PSR shouldn't be used for law enforcement.

Law enforcement is subject to review by We the People and that is not going to change. In fact, it is only going to get more pervasive. This is why we maintain the public-facing Brady List. muckrock.com/news/archives/…

It's extremely rare in Portland (and, most cities) for an police internal affair investigator to believe an officer inappropriately used deadly force. Here's what happens when they do (by my brilliant colleagues Conrad Wilson & Troy Brynelson): opb.org/article/2024/1…
