This week we laid out a memorial to the more than 11,500 Palestinian children and 36 Israeli children who’ve been killed since October 7th. It was a line 5km long of children’s clothes. Huge thanks to the volunteers who came to Bournemouth and made this happen #CeasefireNow

Palestinians risked life & limb to reach Rafah, the last designated safe zone in Gaza. Now they are being told to leave. Where are they supposed to go? This is not an “evacuation.” This is ethnic cleansing — and our government is complicit by letting Israel act with impunity.

Jeremy Corbyn (@jeremycorbyn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The images from Rafah are unbearable. What is there left to say? Do our political leaders not see what we see? Is there really no limit to what Palestinians must endure? Enough! Stop equivocating. Stop stalling. Stop hiding — and call for an immediate ceasefire, now.

Protesting against the mass slaughter of civilians is not a threat to democracy. The real threat to democracy is a government that crushes our rights and silences our solidarity. Our movement is made up of all faiths and backgrounds, united by a belief in a more peaceful world.

The assault on Rafah is another utterly despicable war crime. As bombs rain down on a trapped and terrified population, we implore our government to find an ounce of humanity and end its complicity in this senseless massacre. Wake up. This is not war. This is genocide.

What a fab opportunity it was to attend the #eceee summer study last week, where I presented on the absence of #gender in European #energy policymaking. You can check out our paper here - tinyurl.com/yr5cftvj Great to see old colleagues & meet so many inspiring new people.

This is a valuable piece of research in many ways, but with all due respect, can we please stop using the term ‘hard to reach’ when talking about energy injustices and retrofit. It is stigmatising and patronising. The drivers of #energypoverty are systemic/political/institutional

Watching those monsters set fire to the Holiday Inn in Rotherham to burn alive the asylum seekers inside …whilst blocking the doors & LAUGHING is something I never thought I’d witness in England in 2024. What kind of depraved person does that to another?! Murderers.

I really enjoyed sharing my research at both @IGC2024Dub (Dublin) and FPRN (Salford) this year - it was great to meet others working on a range of energy issues, and get some valuable feedback on my work. Paper coming soon - watch this space! #EnergyResearch

In her paper, Manon B introduces a framework to explain the drivers of energy issues faced by UK refugee communities, exploring how hostile environment asylum approaches and neoliberal housing policy create vulnerability for those seeking sanctuary tinyurl.com/vcfyfwnr

I'm very much looking forward to being (a virtual) part of this year's Right To Energy Forum on Monday! I'll be sharing the energy experiences of refugee women in Manchester as part of the panel, "A feminist lens on inclusive energy access and community power". #R2EForum

This looks to be a great event from Rethink Rebuild next week, where they'll be discussing and challenging the victim-based dominant narrative about Syrian refugees. Be sure to sign up if interested!
