this is good old reactivity and its cure is simple: separate sensations from thoughts and stories about the situation, feel the sensations fully, see the stories were fabricated, eventually stopping 'imagining' some other Now-now exists

the cost of opportunity with desire & aversion is high, but it's not just in the suffering itself but also in the subpar choices you make to avoid some small painful sensation. money, time, effort that are being expended to dodge something that turns into a suffering snowball

Perhaps Unifying energy = unified mind? Cultivating Metta and the Brahmaviharas are one path to unifying the energy leading to unification of mind? Exploring this topic via practice post meditation retreat. Most of my sits tend to be bringing awareness to energy.
