Next week we will host one station of Girls'Day at the #BuildingMaterials section BAM_DE. 🏗🧱 👩‍🔬 Have a sneak preview at our #experiment showing the effect of additives to #cement. Thanks for the additives to @ConcreteWolfram. 🤩 #Science #WomenInSTEM

Achtung heiß! 🔥 Wir wollen zum #GirlsDay2022 untersuchen, warum & wie Materialien brennen, um diese - aber auch Rettungsmanöver - sicherer zu machen 👩🏻‍🚒 #FireScience Girls'Day

This years Girls'Day was a great opportunity to show a bit of #Science. 🔬⚗️👩‍🔬 Already looking forward to the one next year. #WomenInSTEM BAM_DE bam.de/Content/DE/Nac…

Behold, my first collaboration paper with colleagues BAM_DE. It’s about ASR. I leaned a lot! ☺️ A big thank you to the team for the great opportunity! Here is the doi link: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/ad… #cement #concrete #buildingmaterials

Our PhD students green façade project is gaining traction. No plant or fungi grow BAM_DE outdoor samples yet but the local wildlife (a red mite) has already taken a liking to the surfaces. Very colorful. 🤩 #concrete

Also found fancy #mushrooms on my walk. Beautiful #fungi indeed. No idea what they are but I love the orange/yellow one. The area where I saw them was the former inner German border, today a strip of wood. #Berlin

This week BAM_DE we took some finely structured #Concrete surfaces and a colleague made 3D scans of the samples. 😍 This will aid the characterization of #biofilm growth that will be tested on the surfaces later. Look at the comparison! 🔬#Science #3D #BuildingMaterials

A big thank you to the organizers of #WiNS Adlershof program from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin for doing a networking meeting for #WomenInScience Futurium. Very cool 🤩, visit if you have the chance. I will definitely go there again. 😍

If you ever asked yourself why the beautiful old towns of baltic sea cities like Stadt Stralsund look like this: the supply of natural building stones in that area was low, so people made and used bricks for construction. 🧱 #Construction

Take a look at the nice #fossil I found on a walk. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t origin from #Berlin or the near surrounding area. Most likely it is part of moraine sediment or debris from settlements.

Doing the hadrians wall path I saw the beautiful Cawfield Quarry. The rock is Whin Sill. The material is an intrusive rock that encountered metamorphism by heat. #geology
