💚Hoy, 26 de julio, se celebra el Día Internacional en Defensa del Manglar, establecido por la UNESCO en 2015. Los manglares son bosques leñosos que crecen en zonas costeras protegidas del oleaje, en contacto constante con agua salada.🌳🌊

Colombia es el quinto país en América en extensión de manglares: 72.3% en el Pacífico y 27.7% en el Caribe e islas (San Andrés, Providencia y Santa Catalina). Las especies más comunes son el manglar rojo, negro y blanco, entre otros.🇨🇴

Los manglares actúan como defensa costera natural y son sumideros de carbono eficaces. La Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales UdeA impulsa su conservación y estudio a través del Instituto de Biología y el Instituto de Ciencias del Mar. ¡Preservemos nuestra biodiversidad!🌿 Fuente: WWF y Minambiente
