Our HS banned cell phones this year from the time school starts until the final bell. It’s the best thing ever. Students talk to each other at lunch. Teachers don’t have to make their own rules about phones in class. Can’t imagine going back. Even the kids get it. #nophoneschool

Teacher morale is not tricky. Involve them. Support them. Recognize them. Value them.

Your children spend about 6 hours of their days with teachers. Why do you hate paying them so much? It is a reflection on the value you put on your children.

It’s not just students who need Maslow. Teachers need: 1) feel safe / supported 2) emotional connection/ relationships 3) feel respected 4) appreciation 5) value within the team 6) autonomy/ flexibility 7) take time for self and family

Tips for new admin: 1) Assume your staff want to be good at their job. Give them the benefit of the doubt. 2) Trust their professional judgment. 3) Involve staff in decision making when possible. 4) Communicate to your staff that you value them. 5) ALWAYS have their back.
