Today, on #TrafalgarDay, we mark 220 years since the Battle of Trafalgar - a moment that changed our nation’s history and secured British command of the seas. Honouring Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson and HMS Victory, the world’s oldest commissioned warship. ⚓️ #Trafalgar220

Back in 1921, the first #PoppyAppeal began a tradition that still means so much today - wearing a poppy to honour the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces! Volunteer Cadet Corps is proud to support the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal ❤️ #LestWeForget #PoppyAppeal2025 Royal British Legion

Remembrance is an important moment of the year when we show our support for our Armed Forces. Wearing a poppy and supporting the Royal British Legion is one way to thank the Armed Forces for the sacrifices they continue to make to protect our freedom.

"The poppy is a symbol of unity"🤝 The Royal British Legion (Royal British Legion ) has launched this year's #PoppyAppeal Lucy Inskip, Poppy Appeal Director, expressed the importance of the symbol as a recognition of the people who are "protecting and have protected our lives"

Happy 361st Birthday to the entire Royal Marines Corps family today. Formed in 1664, the Royal Marines are an integral part of the Royal Navy and have a huge part of the Volunteer Cadet Corps history! Per Mare, Per Terram. #RM361 #HappyBirthday

Founded in 1664 during the reign of King Charles II, the Corps was initially established as the Duke of York and Albany’s Maritime Regiment of Foot. 361 years on, our Royal Marines remain the spearhead of vital operations as an elite amphibious fighting force. #RM361 #PMPT

Cadets at HMS Sultan planted their poppy garden for the 5th year running. The tradition started in 2020 & continues to honour those who served and sacrificed. This Sunday, they'll join Remembrance services across the local community. 🌺 #LestWeForget Volunteer Cadet Corps Bands of the Royal Marines Volunteer Cadet Corps

With #RemembranceSunday approaching, we look back at past services - including our virtual service during the pandemic, where I had the honour of reading Don Crawford’s poem “Why Wear a Poppy.” Wearing a poppy is a simple act of remembrance - a tribute to courage and sacrifice.

Fantastic day at HMS Sultan with the Volunteer Cadet Corps’ Executive Council, in person and virtual. From RNCF updates and safety culture to growing leadership across the organisation. Great workshops with CFAVs sharing ideas on taking the VCC to its next evolution.
