I was delighted to meet my fellow Directors & esteemed Lion Leaders from around the globe and bond over our common interest: To Serve. We also enjoyed taking part in the Lions service projects in Duluth and thereafter visiting the Lions International Headquarters in Oakbrook.

I thank the Lions International staff for providing us their kind assistance for a comfortable stay and appreciate the warm hospitality extended to us by the local Lions throughout our stay in USA. Now back home rejuvenated to serve!

(2of3) We also welcomed 9 new members (including 6 medical professionals) to our newly formed branch club; Colombo Somerset NexGen. It was my pleasure to sponsor these young members to Lions International

(3of3) My heartfelt thanks to my partner in service Lion Dr. Manel Pasqual for introducing these members to me. I have no doubt my good friend and senior Lion, Shalini Senanayake will guide well these new members to know the joy of service as the Club Liaison.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden demise of Past Council Chairperson Upali Samarasinghe today morning. PCC Upali as my own club member was not only a role model for me, but a close dear family friend.

My beloved mother, Hemalatha Amaratunga, passed away today at the age of 94 and we held the funeral with the attendance of her family. On behalf of my entire family I thank you all for the sincere messages of condolences. May she attain the supreme bliss of Nibbana!

Sad to hear of the demise of PBA Graetian Gunawardhana. As the first District Governor of the newly formed District 306 B2 in 2005/06 he provided a solid foundation for my home district to grow to what it is today. May his soul rest in peace.

Saddened to hear the passing of PDG Ajit Devadasan. As my preceding DG, I had the privilege of serving alongside him as his 1st VDG. We will never forget his jovial nature and infectious laughter. Our family is going to miss him dearly. May his soul rest in peace.
