This is an historic photo. Congratulations to William Brame (who took the photo) for realising this was a different white butterfly. Now confirmed by Chris van Swaay as a Southern Small White - the first seen in England. As it is a female let's hope it has been laying eggs.

On average, #BigButterflyCount participants recorded 10.3 butterflies per 15-minute count 🦋 While a marked improvement on 2024’s record low of 7.2, it is only broadly average by modern standards, and has done little to reverse longer-term declines. butterfly-conservation.org/big-butterfly-…

The evenings are becoming noticeably shorter. To reflect this, the 🚗 park closing time will change to 18:00 (6:00 pm) Monday 15 Sept. This will remain the closing time for 6 weeks until late Oct, when BST ends. As usual, the 🚗 park will be unlocked each morning by 08:00.
