Ivory grips offer extra weight for improved balance in your hand. Plain is fine, but checkered or carved designs will offer a firmer grasp. My first choice on stocks for gun fighting. Second choice would be rosewood, and third would be a dense walnut. “Sixguns” (1961)

The ranch on North Fork was a good place for finding winter meat. Shot this little 2 point buck at 400 yards with a 334 OKH. “Hell, I Was There” (1979)

Best places to shoot to drop a bear as soon as possible. Base of the ear or in shoulders in line with the spine always worked well. “Elmer Keith’s Big Game Hunting” (1948)
