The ‘25 Almanac makes 21 in my collection (partially shown) and I have to say, Aaron Schatz 🏈, this one has more genuine surprises in it than I ever recall. Either alt season win totals or the Almanac’s forecast error are getting action this year. Can’t wait to find out which!

“I never realized how easy this game is until I got in the broadcast booth.” - A sarcastic Mickey Mantle, after retiring.

Hey, Grok, who was the most famous person to visit my profile? It doesn't need to be a mutual, don't tag them, just say who it was

As infamous franchise-trades-that-give-away-a-future Hall-of-Famer go, I always thought there was a nice three-way symmetry to the Lou Brock for Steve Carlton for Ryne Sandberg closed loop for Cardinals, Phillies and Cubs fans. Condolences to all the lifelong Cubs fans I know.

For aspiring handicappers: There's a way to quantify this, yet I don't see anyone do it. Track, by sport, the forecast error of the closing line by season. That will answer the question of Rufus' Year T vs Year T-x, as well as "Is sport X's closing line sharper than Sport Y's?"

For instance, one reason I switched from baseball writing to golf was that in 2017/2018 the forecast error of the closing line *AT PINNACLE* for head-to-head golf matchups was huge. (That was pre-Data Golf's ascendancy, and even their H2H query had excessive forecast error.)

I love this! A Scott’s Tots homage — with added originality. Fantastic execution by Jason Eck and the entire social media team at UNM football. Go Lobos!

Holy cow, is the @ESPN Lee Corso special absolutely fantastic. It’s so much more than just a headgear clip show. Forgot that two of their greatest talents, Tom Jackson and Coach Corso shared a locker room for four years at Louisville. Just a tremendous recap of a special career

“The out’s wide open — like the worst barber in the shop.” 🤣🤣🤣 (Not for nothing, but how the fok can Finebaum pretend Tim Tebow was a more complete college QB than Andrew Luck.)

I mean I guess - if you like getting a weather report after it’s raining on your head. tbf, it’s not a fair fight. When you artificially strangle 19 different points of price discovery vs. an exchange like @novig or ProphetX you don’t stand a chance of real-time relevance.

Not very often San Francisco can rival Miami for the day's best ocean-front city in America, but today is one of those days. Baker Beach (foreground) and the smaller China Beach (around cove) are packed and the neighborhood smells like a Hawaiian Tropic convention.

It must really suck to have to send tweets that your employer wrote. Not if you’re shameless I guess. (P.S. I remember when movie theaters added a single commercial after the trailers. It’s 10 to 15 minutes worth now which is exactly why RedZone fans are outraged.)

omg is that And We Danced by Philadelphia’s own, the Hooters’ supplying the outro music?!?! Everyone over 50 who spent their teen years glued to WMMR are grinning ear to ear. Well done, NBC, well done.
