Who else agrees that a single day sponsored by a corporation…is not a substitute for the free & equitable access to #mentalhealth care services that our governments should be providing for us every day? ✋🏽

Make no mistake: The violence we're seeing on the TTC won't be addressed by having more police present. We need more housing. More mental healthcare. More harm reduction services. More public washrooms. More warming centres. We need a City of Toronto that's more compassionate.

The temperature is -19 C right now (but it feels like -29 C with the wind chill) & Toronto's warming centres are already full...Honestly, there’s something severely wrong with a city that cares so little about whether its most vulnerable people live or die. It's heartbreaking. 💔

Today, the federal government will offer the provinces over $100 billion in healthcare funding. Who else thinks that all this funding should go towards our public healthcare system…and not to expanding for-profit healthcare to make shareholders richer? ✋🏽

New season kicks off March 15! And unlike that guy who ordered Fireball at dinner and kept saying “crypto is the future,” this is one date you’ll want to remember.

So let me get this straight: The City of Toronto was ok with the Toronto Police using $337,000 of our tax dollars to create a podcast barely anyone listened to...but wasn't ok using $400,000 to fund a 24/7 warming centre to prevent hypothermia & death? Where are our priorities?

Re-watching INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE, and isn't it odd how its prologue shows us how Indy got his hat, and his fear of snakes, and the scar on his chin, and his first time cracking a whip, and I love it so much, yet countless movies do the same thing now and I hate it.

It really does feel like the end of an era. Maisel, Succession, Barry all over in a single weekend. They were all original ideas. Not IP. Not AI. All were made by writers/directors who seemingly had full creative control over the story they were telling. How it should be.

Never forget that the first Memorial Day was created by formerly enslaved Black folk in Charleston, SC less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered. On May 1, 1865 more than 10,000 freed slaves gathered at Washington Race Course and Jockey Club, parading around the race

call me crazy but all these franchise flops throughout this year so far (Shazam, Flash, Ant-Man, Transformers, Indy) have me extremely optimistic about cinema. the safe brand-recognition bets studios were banking on are all losing out to stuff with passion and good word-of-mouth

The Greater Golden Horseshoe is about 3/4 the size of Switzerland with about a million more people and no mountains. Metrolinx should be trying to build Swiss style intercity rail but instead we're cancelling service from Toronto to London.

Terry Pratchett once rang up a friend and said, “I’m exhausted! I need a break. I’m taking a six-month sabbatical.” Six months later his friend asked him, “Hey, how’d your sabbatical go?” Terry said, grumpily, “I wrote two books.”

I keep coming back to this line from Asteroid City. We don’t need to know all the answers to all our questions, we don’t need to understand every moment we are living though, we just need to keep living, just keep telling the story, and I think that’s just beautiful.
