Great to see old friends and make new ones at the Theology Hub Diocese of Guildford. I loved listening to Rev’d Professor Maggi Dawn, Ph.D - so much food for thought. A rich and inspiring evening - which has left me longing to take the parish to the National Gallery!

Advice for scholars: next time you lecture on Kant and revolutions at “Downing” (Darwin College) Cambridge, make sure your hair is neatly tied and that you’re not blonde. Or else your research impact will be on the The Spectator libido section.

If you’re in the vicinity, come join me in Guildford for an exploration of the ways theology can be “voiced”, how to listen to those voices, and how they can revitalize our understanding of theological ideas we thought were all done and dusted…

‘I count myself a cultural Christian.’ Christianity is ‘a fundamentally decent religion.’ Now he tells us - having spent decades bent on its destruction! spectator.co.uk/article/does-r…

Not really, because secularism & Dawkins’ own brand of evangelical atheism are both expressions of a specifically Christian culture - as Dawkins himself, sitting on the branch he’s been sawing through and gazing nervously at the ground far below, seems to have begun to realise.

Swore my oath of consent today, so now it’s fully official that I’m a priest in the Episcopal Church (USA). Feeling very grateful to the Bishop, clergy and people of the diocese of Rhode Island.

Picked up today for 50p: 1867 parliamentary inquiry into Anglican public worship. Astonishing - both that there was one, and in the wealth of primary data about church practices.

Such a moving and lovely day to celebrate a really wonderful bishop, pastor, and friend Paul Butler. When he laid down his crozier on the altar, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. Durham Cathedral Diocese of Durham
