Watching Luke Combs sing beside Tracy Chapman with such obvious reverence makes the difference between appropriation and appreciation crystal clear. When someone engages source material in a spirit of love, it shows. Count all the ways he centers her, not himself 👇🏾

“If you’re happy, have found love, are surrounded by good people, doing what you like, and giving back to others, that’s success. Selling your soul for a buck is not worth the real price you pay." —the inimitable Iris Apfel. Rest in peace.

Email about doing a module and getting a CNE…and the topic is nurse burnout. 🙃 No thanks. Please nursing orgs, stop giving nurses more work to do on burnout and resiliency. That’s not it, at all. #nursetwitter

Letter of reference questions be like: How would you assess the candidate's problem solving abilities? Would they be able to evacuate a burning building if they were partially incapacitated by smoke inhalation? Bruh. They took my class. We didn't train to be spies together.

I once called to clarify an order for a cardiac catheterization for a patient who had no indications of needing this. It was an error + meant for another patient. Thinking critically about orders is a nurse’s job, + prevents harm. We work collaboratively. #nursetwitter

My dissertation “The experiences of nursing students with mental health conditions in an inpatient clinical setting: A qualitative study” will be published in Nurse Education Today! I’ll share the link when it’s published! Grateful to students who shared their stories. #nursinged

I’m as guilty as anyone of thinking of my Columbia University undergraduates as “kids.” But here is what I’ve seen them do in the last two weeks: (1/10)

1. Revise technical standards w/ focus on the nursing role, not how info is acquired through senses 2. Create pathways so clinical days can be spaced out when needed (ex. clinicals 2 days a week vs 4 days, next semester finish the hours) 3. Informal Check-in w/students

wake up besties, it's #disabilitypridemonth! not all disabilities are visible, continuous, ubiquitous. lesser known, transient/flaring and situational disabilities can teach us a lot, about how we educate ourselves and create empowering, inclusive #accessibility.
