Well done to Emma🌸 for her excellent poster presentation at #microsoc25 in Liverpool last week. Emma's work is funded by Dept of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and asks a question - can some pathogens survive in animal waste and is there a risk to spreading that waste on fields?Safe Waste Project

Emma has first looked at a parasite called Cryptosporidium parvum and found DNA evidence of its presence in farm slurry all year round. This parasite can cause disease including diarrhoea in cattle so isn't a great one to have.
