Open pollinated organic corn project. We did a whole lot of things wrong. Planted late, into super dry lumpy soil. Cultivated with makeshift row cultivator. And it still wanted to grow.

So, a question for any soil nerds, out there. Taking off my silage corn, I notice the soil is much more mellow/loose compared to adjacent cereal fields. With corn a C4 plant, does it put more energy down through it roots, supporting more soil life? Anybody notice anything similr

Fantastic acoustic performance by Corb Lund and company in Drayton Valley, tonight. Funny songs, sad songs. Even some songs with a social/environmental message. Loved it.

One of the old cattle waterers froze up in the short cold snap we had. Replacing as no parts available (1975?). Something got pretty hot in there at some point. And turns out the old hose barb was corroded through. Hope the new one will last as long.

Small square bales of hay, a loader bucket of corn silage and one of second cut alfalfa. (Scale is broken, so it's best guess) Mosh it all together. And fill bovine tummies.

The world has conspired to create an engine of unbelievable complexity. Biodiversity. Biodiversity has worked for ages of time to create the things humans rely on for each and every aspect of our lives. Soil that can grow food. Climate. Clean air. Clean water. Pollination...

Just a question for any farmer friends out there. Thinking of buying a used scraper, 2 to 4 yard. (Horse power limitations) Ashland, Leon, etc. Have you used it enough to make it worthwhile? Yard leveling, roads, corral maintenance?

Just bought some new tote bags for storing some small batches of seed. They have the plastic liner. Should keep it, to keep moisture out, or tear it out to let it breathe? I've always taken them out, but I see the feed mills leaving them in.

Any ag followers have any suggestions how to keep cage style rollers from packing up if the ground is damp? Just a touch of yellow clay and it just starts piling it in, on, and around.

Question from a mechanically impaired farmer... What does the hose from the air filter canister to the exhaust system do? Suction or pressure? Draw dust into exhaust and expell it? Found hose perished, can I safely move tractor home?
