Why do books matter? Because books open eyes & hearts & minds. They can show us the world in a different light, helping us imagine other lives. Books can connect us, bringing us together, building bridges in a world of walls. They are the greatest empathy engines ever invented.

As a child I would hide behind the sofa and peer between my fingers at the scary sci-fi stuff on TV. As an adult I am doing the same thing whenever the USA or Trump are mentioned.

A strange thing happened to me in the 80s and I’m hoping that social media can give me some information about what happened. I was too young at the time to bother about the details or record anything for posterity, but now would like to know more.
