“The one certainty in the approval process is it will be difficult to get projects done in Canada. I would say it is an adversarial regulatory process.” Major projects in Canada are still seen as a luxury for the proponent rather a necessity for society. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column…

Heard last night that some residential and commercial customers in Atlantic Canada are *switching from natural gas to oil* since the latter is exempted from carbon taxes and is now cheaper, despite being much higher emitting. Predictable and frustrating.

The ESF panel at #FNMPC conference is now underway, moderated by Shannon A Joseph, ESF Chair, and we are starting with why these leaders from @FNLNGAlliance, IRCCanada, First Nations Power Authority, and Athabasca Indigenous Investments, do the inspiring work they do. This is a national economic tragedy. The world wants what we have, and we produce it with lower environmental impacts than anywhere else, yet we’ve allowed anti-Canadian energy obstructionists to block the benefits from reaching our 🇨🇦 families AND the global environment.

This is an example of an org that has no scientific expertise making false determinations about a scientific claim. BC LNG is lower emission in generation than anyone else and burns clearer than coal. The advertising is scientifically correct. #bcpoli #bclng LNG Canada LNGinNorthernBC

Despite the political rhetoric on critical minerals, global mining exploration spending actually fell last year & peaked in 2012. We’ve added over a billion people since then. The IEA says we need 5-6x minerals for an energy transition. I’m not sure we’ll reach 1x at this pace.

Doing some work on forestry and NRCan's webpage on the industry is from 2013😩 Canada could be a global leader in forestry but it suffers from benign neglect natural-resources.canada.ca/our-natural-re…

Hard to not interpret this as making people who work for oil & gas companies second class citizens who are not entitled to talk about their work to address climate goals or be proud of their achievements. Nice, healthy democracy we have here 👌

Ms. Bear The Food Professor 100% of all remaining salmon farms are done with the support of the Nations whose territory they operate. Being told to F-Off from wealthy urbanites when this provides some communities 99% employment is tonedeaf. Particularly when it’s released just before Indigenous Peoples Day.

In an age of disinformation Canadians need to be aware that activists are using images from Iran claiming they are Canadian energy installations. They make a good point! We should increase Canadian exports to shut down demand from these environmental disasters in Iran.

No one is saying the sector shouldn't reduce emissions. It is, even as production and contribution to GDP grows. But why are we layering a cap-and-trade system *on top* of an industrial carbon pricing system that is working? Other than to be punitive to one sector?

Can’t seem to find pipelines, oil, gas or LNG in the Liberal sections on the economy and major projects. We’ve got “nation-building” hydrogen in AB and solar in SK though! 🙃 Honestly pipelines and LNG couldn’t be more popular yet they’re still hedging 📉liberal.ca/cstrong/unite/…

We love 🇨🇦 nuclear power! SMR innovation will cement Canada as a nuclear leader - just like we used to be when we invented the CANDU reactor in the late 50s. Canada needs more nuclear power, just as much as we need more LNG export capacity, more mining projects, and more
