Today I’m making thin section descriptions for the first time since I completed my undergrad 3 years ago. I’d forgotten how pleasant it is seeing all the colours and drawing my little diagrams, I’m having a really lovely day 🔬☺️

I'm Lydia (Lydia Whittaker) I started my PhD with Michael Stock in 2022 funded by We are now Research Ireland. My research investigates changes in the architecture and dynamics of magmatic plumbing systems in the Galápagos through novel geochemical analysis and advanced modelling techniques.

Happy Friday! I’m Remy and I provide Dublin Magmatism Group with moral support during their research. My volcano knowledge is admittedly quite limited, but I try my best to help out with fieldwork around Ireland!

My grandpa who is 85 started making this rock map of Scotland in 1992.He collected rocks during amateur geology trips over 30 years. He says it had to be geologically correct and also aesthetically pleasing. He asked if I could share online as He wants to go viral so please share
