the right wing effort to eliminate property tax is a very naked way for rich, old homeowners to shift the tax burden to working class, young renters. property tax is almost as efficient as land value tax, while fees are economically destructive kludges

Prices went up 2.5% per year on average over the last 30 years. Even if you assume nominal wages lagged inflation by 0.5%, nominal wages would be 81% higher than 30 years ago. No company in 1995 could pay 2025's average nominal wage and charge prices as they were in 1995.

left-NIMBYism is the downwardly mobile upper middle class trying to protect their cut of the Boomer wealth transfer without sounding like the land speculating feudalists they are.

A low average inflation rate of 2.33% will double nominal prices every 30 years, which means a $15 burger from Red Robin will be complained about in 30 years as being $30. But if we redenominate by 90%, then that same burger is "only" up to $3 from $1.50; are complaints as bad?

Land value tax would solve this.
