Y'day Prospect Union event for #WorldClassHeritage we heard from a NT member of staff who until recently earnt just £17k despite a degree, a masters & 10 yrs experience. This is the current reality of heritage careers and its not good enough. Sector influencers need to do more.

Another landing today. Archaeology Warwickshire have increased their starting rate to £23,194, with experienced staff beginning at £24,496. Supervisors start at £26,845. A hat trick of news for a Friday as we go on to do more for our shared future. Remember, this is the start.

This was the moment that we heard that an archaeologist with 10 years' experience and a Masters degree currently earns £17,000 a year. I vividly remember closing my eyes and drawing in a breath. It wasn't easy on the ears or the heart. This is why we fight this fight.
