The odd Tree Pipit, a decent count of 12 Whinchats, 4 Pied Flycatcher, a Wryneck, 3 Yellow Wagtails, and a nice arrival of Chiffchaff, Willow warbler and Blackcap the best birding from today. Also, an impressive ~1100 Red admiral butterflies went SW after arriving from the East!!

A nice arrival of migrants on the island today with Lesser whitethroat (pic), 9 Spotted flycatchers, Pied Flycatcher, Greenshank, increase in Snipe, Firecrest, 3 Reed Warblers, Sedge Warbler, Wryneck, 20+ Willow Warblers, 50+ Blackcaps and Chiffchaff all noted.

Third day of nice falls. Today, Red backed Shrike, 110+ Blackcap, 46+ Spotted flycatchers, 3 Pied Flycatcher, 3 Firecrest, Redstart, 3 Whinchat, 30+ Wheatear etc etc

Love watching these compact little units hunting and feeding.

Big clear out today of passerines but maybe something lurking in the bushes. A seawatch yielded Pomaraine Skua, 67 Gannets, 4 Guillemot, Razorbill, 8 Auk spp., 3 Fulmar, Whimbrel, 4 Kittiwake, 8 Manx Shearwater off SW Point this morning.

Wryneck, 2 Pied Flycatcher and a small arrival of common migrants including island scarcities Redstart and Lesser whitethroat.

Lundy as wild but beaming as always...

My photos are not a patch on Steve Gantlett's absolutely magnificent shot last week, but nonetheless a real joy to encounter this Red-breasted Flycatcher in Millcombe Valley Lundy Bird Observatory this morning. A very endearing little soul, and one of Lundy's earliest autumn records.

A quiet first couple of days on Lundy Bird Observatory with Nick Parsons in strong east winds and sunshine. A scattering of Spot Fly, Pied Fly, Whinchat, Willow Warbler, Tree Pipit and a surprise GSWoodpecker the best up to today when this superb RBFly and a Firecrest perked things up
