Happy to share a new paper led by Daniel MS and Anna Schrecengost, with Ivan Cepicka CepickaLab Katerina Polakova Johana MicRo. Funding from Simons Foundation. doi.org/10.1093/ismejo…
Happy to share a chapter of my PhD thesis🐣! We review the diversity of the cell envelope in Terrabacteria which tell us a lot about outer membrane biogenesis and the diderm-to-monoderm transition. Thanks to my co-authors Najwa Taib Christophe Beloin Simonetta Gribaldo nature.com/articles/s4157…
Time to re-write the books! I loved Simonetta Gribaldo's talk- there's so much to unlearn and relearn.
Congrats to A/Prof Jeremy J Barr School of Biological Sciences, Monash on being awarded $500,000 USD from the Gates Foundation to support ground-breaking research discovering how bacteriophages could prime human immunity and impact health. Read more 👇 monash.edu/science/news-e…
Three papers showing methanogenesis by three members of the Thermoproteota (TACK) are out in Nature today: tinyurl.com/4v4fkda6 tinyurl.com/yr4p7js6 tinyurl.com/mtsrj6b9 (figure by Anthony Kohtz who 1st authored both papers from my lab; 1 shared with Viola Krukenberg)
I've officially joined the MicroBites team as a Writer & Spanish translator! I'll be writing short articles about microbiology. My first Spanish translation is now available on our website: micro-bites.org/2024/08/23/ser… #scicomm #sciencewriter #stem #sciencewriting #translation
We are launching the MIT Bioeconomy Seminar Series together with Mark Bathe. Join us if you are in the Boston area. #bioeconomy bioeconomy-seminar-series.org
Our latest preprint is out! This paper led by Sukhwan Yoon uncovers a new process controlling the global hydrogen and nitrogen cycles, i.e. the direct coupling of hydrogen oxidation and ammonification. A beautiful combination of isolation, bioreactor, and systems biology studies.
