Because Israel was founded in response to the Nazi genocide, it is harder to accept that the Israeli government in turn would commit genocide. One obviously does not preclude the other, but Israel benefits from the cognitive dissonance. That must change. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Correva l'anno 1982. Hamas non esisteva. Hezbollah nemmeno.

Gaza is more than a humanitarian crisis – it is a moral crisis that challenges the global conscience. We will continue to speak out. But words don’t feed hungry children. The United Nations stands ready to make the most of a ceasefire to dramatically scale up humanitarian operations.

Dropping food from the air in Gaza is an ineffective sideshow. During my time as UN relief chief we had to stop such aid. Minimal amounts were delivered and chaos and accidents occurred on the ground. All entries into Gaza have to be opened and distribution handed back to UN.

2/What happens just 500 km from Europe's borders is not only a humanitarian tragedy, but a moral crisis that challenges all of humanity. It is time to start holding accountable those whose inaction also makes them complicit in the deaths of so many civilians by hunger, bombs.
