Last week our Birmingham & Black Country Sight Loss Councils took representatives from across West Midlands Combined Authority local authorities on a sim spec walk to highlight the issues floating bus stops cause for blind and partially sighted people. #Hazards #SafeTravelForAllIsNeeded #Danger



Today we joined colleagues from Transport for West Midlands, West Midlands Combined Authority & National Express for #CatchABusMonth event in Wednesbury. We chatted to the general public, colleagues & stakeholders about how they can support blind & partially sighted passengers. #MakeTranaportAccessible


We were invited by Richard Kirby to join the senior leadership meeting at @bhamcommunity NHS trust to continue discussions around how we work collaboratively and ensure patients ALWAYS receive person centred care, including correspondence in their preferred format.#AIS Sight Loss Councils


This week I joined members from our Birmingham and Black Country Sight Loss Councils as we were invited by the WestMidsPCC to the victims commission plan following on from our work with West Midlands Police on hate crime. Ensuring the needs of blind and partially sighted people are considered.


Today we joined UHB Vulnerabilities and Safeguarding team at Queen Elizabeth hospital to launch their new sensory training project. We’ve worked closely with the team to develop the training, & create a new communication passport as part of our work to #MakeHealthAccessible. #AIS Sight Loss Councils

Last week we joined colleagues from UHB Vulnerabilities and Safeguarding across the remaining hospital sites for the launch of their communication passport and dual sensory training package. We are incredibly proud of the work our Sight Loss Councils have done to CoDedign and CoDeliver with University Hospitals Birmingham.


Yesterday our Sight Loss Councils members joined colleagues from Transport for West Midlands to discuss real time information QR codes being rolled out across all 1400 bus stop in the West Midlands. We highlighted the challenges with the current plan & how to make them accessible for BPS commuters.


Brilliant day yesterday at Euro Bus Expo with Samantha Leftwich TPT SLC on behalf of Sight Loss Councils, sharing information about our new Confederation of Passenger Transport training. Made some great new industry connections & highlighted how small things can have huge positive impact on BPS passengers



This week our Birmingham & Black Country Sight Loss Councils team have spent time delivering situational awareness training with @bhamcommunity at Safeside Centre showcasing personal experiences within healthcare. #Learning #RealLifeScenarios #AIS


As part of disability history month I was recently invited along to the D.i.i.verse Hub podcast at University of Wolverhampton to discuss this years topic of Disability, Livelihood & Employment. We chatted about my own career & the brilliant internships programme at Thomas Pocklington Trust. #opportunities


Yesterday Sight Loss Councils spent the day at Naidex attending some great presentations and panel discussions, meeting current and new stakeholders and chatting about Thomas Pocklington Trust get set progress internship opportunities. #Naidex2025


Yesterday we spent the day at West Midlands Combined Authority Network Resilience Summit, presenting to transport & built environment leaders from across the region. We discussed existing barriers, practical solutions to overcome these & shared Sight Loss Councils CIHT E-learning resources #Collaboration
