Watching the Cecil Parkinson doc on Channel 5. It's funny as when all this happened, I was 12 & just thought he was an old man. Now, I can see that (apart from being a Tory), he was, superficially at least, actually a bit of a dish.

I've had to email someone today to say I can't give a talk I'm booked for in 3 weeks time. On top of the nostalgia series, the bookazine I was editing last year is back on, and I've a magazine article to do. Feel bad for letting someone down but think it might just finish me off.

There’s been a real outcry about this but I don’t really think it’s that bad. These 2 are quite funky (look at his cropped trousers) & she looks a bit Indie chick/mod. And it’s a walking stick-ist to be offended by that. Plus some over-50s are, like, 90. So cool it folks.

I'm writing 1981 now and think when this is all over, I need a day of watching 1981's finest films...Tess, Gregory's Girl, Chariots of Fire, Time Bandits (!). All fabulous. Years since I've watched 'Tess' and have a real yearning to see it again.

22 yr old is back from his Toronto/New York/Washington/Philadelphia/Baltimore jaunt. Flighth got in this morning & he now has friends round for board games & drinks. Oh, to have the stamina of youth.

At the dentist for a check up. My appointment was 9am. I got here at 9am. It is now 9:15am. They are never, ever on time, even early in the morning. Drives me mad. 4 people now in waiting room including me.
