We’re also thrilled to offer continued funding to this year’s Stage 2 Innovators Lucas Farnung, @raflynn5, and Liu Lab (Dr. Kathy F. Liu), who are expanding our knowledge of gene translocation, cell surface RNA, and Y chromosome proteins to make breakthroughs in cancer research!

🎉Super excited to share our story on how the substrate receptor FBXO31 functions as a quality control factor by recognizing amides. This has been an amazing collaboration between Bode lab and Jacob Corn. Special shutout goes to @matthias_muhar nature.com/articles/s4158…

Cells are filled with toxic stuff that damages healthy proteins. Is that garbage just left to rot on the curb? No way! Ubiquitin ligases have evolved to recognize chemical damage and clean it up! nature.com/articles/s4158…

Interesting science goals from Germany’s new coalition agreement (CDU/CSU/SPD): 🇩🇪 100,000 GPU AI cluster 🌍 “1,000 minds” program for global talent 📜 Reform of fixed-term academic contracts 📈 3.5% of GDP for R&D by 2030 ⚛️ Target: First working fusion reactor to be built in 🇩🇪

Lucas Farnung (@lucasfarnung) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Worth noting: 🇩🇪 invested 3.11% of GDP in R&D in 2023. The new 3.5% target for 2030 is only a marginal increase—and was already set for 2025. Ambition looks rather limited.
