I think med school should have a module about all the things in the last 50 years that medicine took as fact and were later shown to be myopic or incorrect. The assignment should be to write a case for something that we have likely gotten wrong now #medtwitter

Note No.10 is starting its new narrative: “We can’t stop the two child limit ‘cos they made us u-turn on disability benefits.” Child poverty v disability poverty is not a contest. Labour is responsible for its choices and solutions - not disabled people. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

Despite pausing plans to cut PIP, the government is continuing with devastating cuts to Universal Credit ✂️ This will still plunge many more disabled people into poverty. We urge the government to withdraw the bill. And co-produce reforms with disabled people.

My favourite thing about this country is that 'you can't take money from millionaires, they might leave' is considered a more valid and compelling argument than 'you can't take money from disabled people, they might die'.

Regular update on how many jobs there are for disabled people, according to DWP Find a Job All Jobs: 110,705 Fully Remote (formerly "home working"): 651 + Disability confident: 70 + part time: 11 But 2 of the "home working" jobs are in care homes, so its actually 9 NINE

Almost 5 years later, many more millions developed Long Covid without even realizing what they have. Time to make #CountLongCovid trending again. Every #COVID patient needs to be followed up with a question at 4 weeks from disease onset: Are you back to your baseline health?

Meanwhile ADHD diagnosis rates increase, common features of which include executive function issues, poor attention and concentration, impulsivity. Sound familiar?

On severe MECFS day I take a moment of silence to remember the suffering of very severe patients. I remember their caregivers, allies and doctors who care for them. I implore all who don’t believe this disease is real to educate themselves so they can provide appropriate care.

I wonder if Helen and the Tories would also like to criminalise tax cutting advice that runs every spring in the broadsheets? When the wealthy and healthy do it, it’s information. When the poor and disabled do it, it’s scrounging.

Why hasn't BBC News (UK) covered the groundbreaking findings of the DecodeME the ME/CFS Study? Does the health editor Hugh Pym not consider the story newsworthy? Reminder: M.E. affects at least 400,000 people in the UK alone. #BBCNews #MECFS #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis decodeme.org.uk/initial-dna-re…

This is why BBC News (UK) ignoring the recent DecodeME the ME/CFS Study research is so appalling. ME is not psychological nor weird family dynamics. It's a serious illness that can kill. This needs shouting from the rooftops, urgently. My heart cries for Maeve and Sarah and what they went thru

Great thread, pulling lots together. Wes Streeting you need to be brave on this. Make this issue your most powerful intervention as Health Secretary and take #Covid and #LongCovid seriously and with urgency. Please. With thanks to Esther for the brilliant thread.

No sorry I'm not letting this go, we had several months of the government telling us we need to force the disabled into work by cutting their benefits (even though that made no sense) and now there aren't enough jobs?

Basically a petition calling for UK Health Security Agency to do its actual job. Ridiculous it should be necessary, but here we are. It is. Please support 🙏 Direct the UKHSA to monitor COVID infections that occur in particular settings petition.parliament.uk/petitions/7320…

A few hours ago, I did some cognitive work on a conference I’m working on. My body started to shut down DURING the exertion. Symptoms started to flare. This is NOT PEM. Not yet…. 1/
