When the weather is clear, you'll find Lancaster University Astronomy Society on our rooftop with telescopes pointed to the sky. They also meet for films, quizzes and discussions on recent space events! đź”

The first meeting of this year is today! We'll talk about our society's plans for this year, introduce you to astronomy, then go and see the telescopes (including the one in the dome!) To help you get there, here's a map with Cavendish highlighted: tinyurl.com/3nt8ba4c

Messier 42 - The Orion Nebula. One of the brightest nebula and visible to the naked eye, this gorgeous nebula was captured from the Lancaster Physics roof using a little Sky Watcher refractor and Zwo camera. Over 900 10s images (osc) were captured to create the final image.

C/2022 E3 (ZTF) - The green comet. It’s colour is caused by the sun’s interaction with carbon atoms. Captured using a Skywatcher 500mm refractor (100mm aperture), as well as a colour ZWO cooled Astro camera and EQ6 AZ/EQ mount. #Astrophotography #cometZTF
