It's Mission To Psyche mission day 180! Thrusting proceeding nominally, speed wrt Sun 21 km/sec, Earth range 2.263 x 10^8 km. No photo of spacecraft, so here is a little rabbit from outside my window.

Happy Mission To Psyche mission day 173! Tomorrow we officially begin thrusting with our Hall Effect thrusters. We've been testing and commissioning them and we're ready to go. Expect...almost nothing...sloooow acceleration!

Normal day in Arizona, coyotes out for a morning stroll. (the one had stopped for a scratch but I missed filming it)

Happy mission day #167 ofor Mission To Psyche! As the Earth in its orbit turns away from the spacecraft the apparent speed of Psyche keeps increasing. Relative to the Sun the s/c is still in the low 20's of km/sec.

Custom space weather warnings for Mission To Psyche from NOAA ‘s space weather center. Sun’s active now near its maximum and I get several emails a day about flares, CMEs, and shocks. Love it. (Don’t worry about Psyche, she’s fine)

Such a fun visit to my old home, MIT EAPS, to celebrate 40 years since the merger that created the department. Here's Rob van der Hilst (dept head), John Southard, me, and Maria Zuber. It's also exactly 40 years since my first class there, 12.001 with John! What a great teacher.

The Kendall Hotel in Cambridge boasts of providing 'authentic Bostonian hospitality.' Now, I love this hotel, but I don't think of authentic Bostonian hospitality as necessarily..a good thing...anyone remember Durgin Park?

Dr. Carol Mundell, European Space Agency science lead, presents at National Academy of Sciences on coming missions. Look at this - space-based gravitational wave detection! And the ESA budget is up (UP!) ~20%!

OTD in 1852 the 16th asteroid was discovered and named Psyche. Now 172 years later we have a robotic spacecraft on its way to learn more, and currently more than 450 times farther than our Moon and zooming onward. Go, humans, make the next 172 better and better. Mission To Psyche
