They may be the first in their families to attend college, but thanks to their achievements and determination, we know they won’t be the last! These incredible first-gen students inspire us every day, and we couldn’t be prouder of them all.

John Michael Sweat spent this summer learning and growing at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, as part of the Public Policy & International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship Program.

Through the program, he gained expertise in economics, policymaking, and legal frameworks, collaborating on a project advocating Texas nuclear investments. His experience deepened his skills in policy research, now shaping his work on nuclear energy policy in Louisiana.
